The phone page
What the phone page is, how it sees your agents through your own server, and what a phone may and may not do.
The phone page is Hivemind on your phone: a web page your phone's browser opens. Your own
network server serves it, at /phone/. It reaches your computer through that server, because a
browser cannot reach a device directly.
The page comes inside hive-net, so your server always serves the page of its own release. When hive-net is upgraded, the running server starts the new one in its place, and the phone gets the new page on its next open. An upgrade does not sign your phone out: its key is kept by its browser, not by the server.
- Agent → background process: its hook says it asks something.
- Background process → desktop app (or
hive host): the agent's new state. - Desktop app → network server → phone page: every agent and what waits on you, relayed, encrypted end to end.
- Network server → phone: a push notice when the page is closed, encrypted to the phone.
What a phone may do
A paired phone acts as you, but only for what a phone is for:
| May | May not |
|---|---|
| Watch and type into a running terminal | Start, size or close a terminal |
| Answer an agent, and send it a message | Edit the canvas, or read your files |
| See what waits on you, and get a push | Host a workspace |
| Show a view made for phones | Hold your person key: it never leaves your computer |
| Unpair itself |
To pair one, see Answer agents from your phone.
