# Hivemind

> A workspace your coding agents build and work in: run them side by side, add your own views, widgets and tools, and reach them from anywhere.

Your agents build the workspace they work in. Hivemind runs your coding agents side by side, and they open views, add widgets and start other agents with the same `hive` command you use.

Install Hivemind on this computer and start my first agent in it.

1. Run the installer. On Linux or macOS: \`bash <(curl -fsSL https://hivemind.griiken.com/install.sh)\`. On Windows, in PowerShell: \`irm https://hivemind.griiken.com/install.ps1 | iex\`. On an Intel Mac, stop and tell me: there is no prebuilt app.
2. Check: \`hive --version\` prints a version. If \`hive\` is not found, tell me the line that adds \`~/.local/bin\` to PATH in my shell profile.
3. Check which agent programs are on PATH: \`command -v claude codex opencode\`. Ask me which one to use. If I have none, ask before installing one.
4. Add it: \`hive agents install <name> --yes\`. Check: \`hive agents list --found\` lists it.
5. Ask me which project folder to open, then run \`hivemind <folder>\`.

Never type a password; if a step needs sudo, ask me to run it. At the end, tell me the version installed and the agent added, and that pressing 2 in the app starts that agent.

Linux arm64 gets the command line only, and Intel Macs build from source: see [System requirements](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/system-requirements/).

## What's new [#whats-new]

In Hivemind <Version />:

- Tool plugins install from HiveHub, and each one arrives switched off until you turn it on.
- Agents open, call and close plugins in the app with `hive ctl plugin`.
- You can remove a workspace from this computer in the Layers panel. Its folder and files stay.

Every release is in the [Changelog](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/changelog/). New words are in the [Glossary](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/glossary/). To let
your coding agent read these docs, see [Use these docs from your agent](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/docs-for-agents/).
