<AgentPrompt description="Paste this into your coding agent to answer a question about Hivemind from these docs and this computer." page="faq">{`
Answer my question about Hivemind: <my question>.

Use this page first, then the rest of the Hivemind docs. Where the answer depends on this computer, check it read-only: \`hive --version\`, \`hive agents list\`, \`hive plugins list\`, \`hive network show\`. Quote the page you used, and say plainly when the docs do not answer it. Do not change anything.

## Is Hivemind free? [#is-hivemind-free]

Yes. Hivemind is open source under the [MIT license](https://github.com/dip497/hivemind/blob/main/LICENSE). The coding agents you run in it are separate programs, with their own accounts and prices.

## Which agents does it run? [#which-agents-does-it-run]

Every agent on [HiveHub](https://hivehub.griiken.workers.dev/), such as Claude Code, Codex and opencode. Install the agent's own program, and Hivemind adds it when it starts. To run one that is not listed, [add your own agent](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/agent-providers/).

## Do I need an account? [#do-i-need-an-account]

No. There is no Hivemind account. Your agents may need their own accounts.

## Does my code leave my computer? [#does-my-code-leave-my-computer]

Hivemind does not send your code anywhere. What does leave your computer:

- **Your agents' own traffic.** Each agent sends what it sends to its own provider. Hivemind does not change that.
- **The update check.** The app asks GitHub whether a newer release is out.
- **HiveHub.** Hivemind downloads its list of plugins, and the files of each plugin you install.
- **Your own network server**, if you set one up. It passes traffic between your devices, encrypted end to end, and cannot read it.

More in [Trust, permissions and privacy](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/security-and-privacy/).

## What does HiveHub receive? [#what-does-hivehub-receive]

A request for its list, one for each file of a plugin you install, and one that counts the install. The counting request carries no id and no machine name. HiveHub counts one install per plugin, per address, per day.

## Does it run on Windows? [#does-it-run-on-windows]

The Windows app is built and checked automatically for each release, but it is not yet tested on real hardware. [Tell us what breaks](https://github.com/dip497/hivemind/issues). See [System requirements](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/system-requirements/).

## Does it run on an Intel Mac? [#does-it-run-on-an-intel-mac]

There is no prebuilt app for Intel Macs. Build it from source with `bash install.sh --dev`. See [Install](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/install/).

## Do I need a server to use my phone? [#do-i-need-a-server-to-use-my-phone]

Yes. Your phone reaches your computer through your own network server, with an https address. See [Set up your own network server](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/self-hosting/), then [Answer agents from your phone](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/phone/).

## What happens to my agents when I close the app? [#what-happens-to-my-agents-when-i-close-the-app]

They keep running. A background process keeps your terminals and agents alive while the app is closed or updating. A restart of your computer ends it.

## How do I remove it? [#how-do-i-remove-it]

Run `hivemind uninstall`. See [Uninstall](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/uninstall/).
