# Use these docs from your agent

> Let your coding agent read these docs through llms.txt or any page as Markdown, and teach it Hivemind with the hive skills.

Source: https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/docs-for-agents/

Your coding agent can read these docs and drive Hivemind for you. Point it at them once, and it
looks things up instead of guessing.

<AgentPrompt description="Paste this into your coding agent so it reads the Hivemind docs whenever it needs them." page="docs-for-agents">{`
Remember where the Hivemind documentation is, so you read it instead of guessing.

1. Fetch https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/llms.txt. It lists every page with a one-line description, and each page's address as Markdown.
2. Add a short note to this project's agent instructions (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, or what this agent reads): "Hivemind docs: https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/llms.txt. Read the page you need as Markdown before using a hive command."
3. Check: find the page about installing Hivemind in that list, read it as Markdown, and tell me the install command for this computer.

If writing the instructions file needs a choice only I can make, ask me and wait.

## Give it the docs as text [#give-it-the-docs-as-text]

| File | Holds |
|---|---|
| [`/guide/llms.txt`](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/llms.txt) | every page, each with its one-line description and its address as Markdown |
| [`/guide/llms-full.txt`](https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/llms-full.txt) | every page in one Markdown file |

To get one page as Markdown, add `.md` to its address, as in `https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide/install.md`, or press
**Copy page** at the top of the page. **Open** beside it shows the Markdown, or hands the page to Claude, ChatGPT,
Cursor or Scira AI.

**Check:** ask your agent "How do I install Hivemind?" It answers with the install command from these docs.

## Teach it Hivemind with the hive skills [#teach-it-hivemind-with-the-hive-skills]

To let an agent work in Hivemind on its own, add the hive skills to your project.

```bash
cd ~/my-project && hive add skill
```

**Check:** `.claude/skills/` now holds `hive-work`, `hive-workflow`, `hivemind` and
`hive-browser`. An agent that reads skills learns to pick up issues and to start and coordinate
other agents with `hive ctl`.

## Use the prompt on each page [#use-the-prompt-on-each-page]

A page that describes something you set up or do starts with a prompt. Paste it into Claude Code,
Codex or any coding agent, and it does the job on your computer. Each prompt says what to check at
the end. It asks you for anything only you can do, such as a password, a sudo or a DNS record.
Each one ends with a `REFERENCE` line: the page as Markdown, for the agent to read.

## Rules for agents that read these docs [#rules-for-agents-that-read-these-docs]

- Prefer `hive ctl … --json`, and check `hive <command> --help` before using a flag.
- Never ask a person for a token's value. Tell them to make one in **Settings → API access**.
- Use the smallest role that does the job.
- Ask the person before installing anything, and never type a password.
